Permutation Tests to Compare Survival Curves for Matched Data

Multivariate permutation test to compare survival curves for matched data
BACKGROUND In the absence of randomization, the comparison of an experimental treatment with respect to the standard may be done based on a matched design. When there is a limited set of cases receiving the experimental treatment, matching of a proper set of controls in a non fixed proportion is convenient. METHODS In order to deal with the highly stratified survival data generated by multipl...
Weighted Logrank Permutation Tests for Randomly Right Censored Life Science Data
In biomedical research, weighted logrank tests are frequently applied to compare two samples of randomly right censored survival times. We address the question how to combine a number of weighted logrank statistics to achieve good power of the corresponding survival test for a whole linear space or cone of alternatives, which are given by hazard rates. This leads to a new class of semiparametri...
Augmenting the logrank test in the design of clinical trials in which non-proportional hazards of the treatment effect may be anticipated.
BACKGROUND Most randomized controlled trials with a time-to-event outcome are designed assuming proportional hazards (PH) of the treatment effect. The sample size calculation is based on a logrank test. However, non-proportional hazards are increasingly common. At analysis, the estimated hazards ratio with a confidence interval is usually presented. The estimate is often obtained from a Cox PH ...
A critical appraisal of propensity-score matching in the medical literature between 1996 and 2003.
Propensity-score methods are increasingly being used to reduce the impact of treatment-selection bias in the estimation of treatment effects using observational data. Commonly used propensity-score methods include covariate adjustment using the propensity score, stratification on the propensity score, and propensity-score matching. Empirical and theoretical research has demonstrated that matchi...
